The Honest Case
Airbnb works. We use it too.
Guests find us there, read the reviews, and decide we're worth staying with. That part of the process is fine.
What Airbnb can't give you is the conversation before you arrive — the text about where to park, the recommendation that saves your dinner, the answer at 9pm when something needs fixing. That's not a platform feature. That's a person.
When you book direct, you have that person from the moment you book until the moment you leave. Same properties. Same standard. No platform standing between us.
The Financial Reality
Booking direct costs less. No guest service fees. No platform markup. On a week-long stay that's typically a few hundred dollars that stays in your pocket. We'd rather you spend it at the Mint Bar than give it to a platform that had nothing to do with your trip.
On a five-night stay at $250 a night, Airbnb adds roughly $200 in fees. We don't.
The Standard
"The price changes. The standard doesn't."
Fifteen properties. All of them personally hosted. The same people who stocked the kitchen and chose the mattress will answer if something needs fixing. That's not a policy. That's how we operate.
