A house with a history. Two kings, a great room, and a backyard worth lingering in.
The Alderman is named for the man who made it a home. A former Wyoming state senator and town mayor, he spent decades in public life before settling into this house with the kind of care that shows. The large framed Wyoming flag above the king bed in the primary room flew over the state capitol before it came to hang here. The space was designed by Real Deals on Home Decor in Sheridan, and it reads that way.
The living room is the heart of the place. A curved sectional faces a hammered brass coffee table. A sputnik chandelier hangs above. Cast iron radiators line the windows dressed in deep forest velvet. A large horse photograph anchors the wall above the credenza -- the kind of image that evokes the Bighorns. None of this was assembled in a hurry.
The primary bedroom anchors around a king with a herringbone walnut headboard and that flag above. The second bedroom has its own character: vintage Wyoming travel posters in black frames, terracotta linen drapes, a wool blanket in earthy tones. Both rooms have Coop linens -- the same brand used at the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons.
The backyard is genuinely large: roughly 100 feet across and 75 deep. Two Adirondack chairs sit off the back door on a small patio, a six-person dining table and propane grill below that, and two more Adirondack chairs on the covered front porch. For a home this close to town, the outdoor space is uncommon.
Getting Around
Downtown Sheridan is a 10-minute walk. So is Sackett's Market, and Emerson Park, which connects to the walking paths that thread through most of the town. Street parking is available in front. The Big Horn Mountains are 45 minutes. Yellowstone is four hours.

Good to Know
The kitchen and bathroom are honest spaces -- original to the house and showing their age without apology. Central air and heat throughout. Pet-friendly with a pet fee; the large backyard and proximity to Emerson Park make this one of the better setups for guests traveling with dogs. Two king beds. Sleeps 4.
The flag above the bed flew over the Wyoming state capitol. That detail either means something to you or it doesn't -- but it sets the tone for a house that was lived in by someone who cared about this state, and it shows in the bones of the place.
The backyard alone is worth noting for a property this close to town. A hundred feet wide, two Adirondacks off the back door, a table for six, a grill. Ten minutes on foot to Main Street, ten minutes to Sackett's, a walk to Emerson Park that connects to trails covering most of Sheridan. Leave the car parked and don't think about it until checkout.
For two couples or a family that doesn't want to share a room, the two-king layout at this proximity to downtown is genuinely rare. Start with dinner at The Mint -- five minutes on foot, and our standing recommendation for a first night in Sheridan.
