Wyoming's largest department store from 1909 — converted into Sheridan's most singular address.
Wyoming's largest department store from 1909, converted to a private residence in the early 2000s. Four bedrooms, five bathrooms, 9,000 square feet, and a two-car garage in downtown Sheridan — a combination that doesn't exist anywhere else. A forty-foot bar, fireplace, and 98-inch TV, directly across from the WYO Theatre. Luxury that's earned some age. Where John Dutton would stay if he came to town.
The scale of the space is the first thing you notice — ceilings that climb above original timber columns, open volumes that feel more like a private club than a vacation rental. The 40-foot bar is fully stocked and operational. The kitchen is chef-caliber. Every bedroom is finished with the same care as the public spaces.
The two-car private garage on-site is an extraordinary rarity in downtown Sheridan. You're directly across the street from the WYO Theatre and steps from King's Saddlery, the Mint Bar, and Main Street's best dining.
Built in 1909 as Wyoming's largest department store, the New York Store was a landmark of Sheridan commerce for decades. Converted to a private residence in the early 2000s, it keeps the bones of the original structure — the timber framing, the scale, the sense of permanence — while living with every modern comfort. There is nothing else like it in Wyoming.
This is Sheridan's premier large-group property — ideal for family reunions, corporate retreats, wedding parties, or anyone who wants to own downtown Sheridan for a few nights. Self check-in. Personally hosted.
Nobody walks in here and plays it cool. The wow happens at the door — every time, without exception. This isn't a vacation rental that happens to be large; it's something else entirely. A 115-year-old department store that became a private residence, that became the most singular place to stay in Wyoming. The 40-foot bar has hosted family reunions, bachelor parties, and corporate retreats — and it never feels like a venue. It feels like yours. Frackelton's is next door; grab the bar high-tops, order the potato gnocchi and a key lime martini, and watch Main Street from the window like you own it.

Huge, with lots of space to hang out and spend time together — just what we needed and then some. The location is right on Main Street. You can tell the host takes great care and pays attention to details. Lost in history in this rental. It's a must-see and stay. I'm already thinking of who I want to bring back next time.

The location is incredible and very unique. Worked great for our family of seven adults.
